For gluing edge materials based on PVC, PP, ABS, veneer, melamine, various types of adhesives are used:
1. EVA melts are thermoplastic (thermoreversible) adhesives that come in granular form. These granules are loaded into specialized melting equipment, and a hot roller is used to apply the melt either to the edge of the board material or directly to the edge itself.
There are various modifications of EVA melts for different edge bonding speeds:
Kleiberit 788.3 for curved edging machines with low feed speed.
Kleiberit 788.7 Low-temperature adhesive for straight edge banding machines
Kleiberit 774.4 high temperature adhesive for straight-line machines
Kleiberit 773.3 is an unfilled adhesive that provides a highly transparent adhesive joint.
KLEIBERIT 707.6 for open-face gluers is a PUR hot-melt adhesive for edgebanding that offers excellent adhesion to most materials. Various types of edging, including ABS, PMMA, PVC, CPL, HPL, and PP, as well as veneer and even solid wood, will be securely bonded.
2. If increased heat resistance of the adhesive joint is required, which is due to the transportation of finished products at elevated temperatures, polyolefin(PO) hot melt adhesives Kleiberit 753.3 or 754.0 are used.
3. The trend toward producing products with enhanced performance properties, such as increased moisture and heat resistance, has led to the need to use thermosetting (thermally irreversible) polyurethane (PUR) hot melt adhesives. This type of adhesive reacts with atmospheric humidity and, after crystallization, forms a dense polymer film with heat resistance exceeding 160°C. Low processing temperatures allow for bonding even the thinnest PVC edges.
The Kleiberit line of PUR adhesives offers a wide range of products, varying in catalysis, viscosity, initial strength, color, and more. For example, transparent 707.9.08, white 707.6.41, and low-viscosity 707.9.40.
